Anime Adventures Evolution Guide

Anime Adventures evolution guide: how units evolve, where evolution items drop, what the Travelling Merchant sells and how Limit Break works.

6 min readLast checked Sources

Anime Adventures evolution turns a unit in this Roblox tower defense into a stronger form, usually with an item, extra materials and sometimes a takedown count. This guide follows the community wiki, last logged at Update 20.4.1, so recipes and prices may have changed. We have not tested them in game.

How Anime Adventures evolution works

Evolving happens at the Evolve area in the lobby. Each evolved form has its own recipe: the base unit, one or more evolution items, and often more. The wiki lists extra materials such as Devil Fruit, takedown counts (5,000 and 7,500 appear) and sacrifices of other units. The wiki FAQ says takedowns are needed for most world and raid units. Some units fuse instead: Fused Hero needs Carrot (Ultra) and Vego (Mage II) at upgrade 7 each.

The Anime Adventures units pages show which units have evolved forms, and the Anime Adventures best units guide shows which published lists rank highly.

Where Anime Adventures evolution items come from

Anime Adventures evolution items come from crafting, the Travelling Merchant, side stages and portals.

SourceWhat it gives
CraftingStar fruits plus gold. The wiki lists Hat of the Conqueror at 2,000 gold plus star fruits.
Travelling MerchantStar fruits and finished evolution items for gems.
Legend StagesEvolution materials, and some relic materials. Unlock by clearing Act 6 of the matching story world.
PortalsConsumables from infinites, legend stages, shops and events. The Alien Portal (Alien Spaceship infinite) lists Full Power Core, and the Puppet Portal lists SMILE Fruit.
Infinite killsSome recipes count kills, such as 10,000 in Cape Canaveral infinite for Puchi (Heaven).

See the Anime Adventures infinite mode guide for portal sources, the Anime Adventures raids guide for raid units, and the Anime Adventures relics guide for the relic materials that Legend Stages also drop.

Travelling Merchant stock and timing

The Anime Adventures Travelling Merchant stands in the lobby near the summon area. It is open for 60 minutes, then closes behind a sign. After 30 more minutes it returns with up to three items, payable in gems or gold.

  • Star fruits: 50 gems for the plain one, 200 for red, green, blue and pink, 300 for rainbow.
  • Star Remnant: 400 gems, used to reroll a trait.
  • Luck Potion: 200 gems. Summon Ticket: 500 gold.
  • Evolution items: about 1,850 to 8,000 gems on the wiki list, for example Cupcake at 2,250 and Final Contract at 8,000. A few prices show as unknown.

One wiki trivia line says the items required for evolving were removed from Update 19.0, yet the same page still lists them. We could not settle that, so check the shop in game. Anime Adventures codes can add gems.

What an evolved form changes

Many evolved forms in Anime Adventures evolution add an attack bonus and a new ability. The wiki gives Hat of the Conqueror as +50% attack with a new ability for Red Scar, and Cupcake as +25% attack and a slow for Mochi.

Evolved Mythic and Secret units cost more to trade: the Anime Adventures trading tax is 6,000 gems, against 4,000 before evolving. When a Legendary evolves into a Mythic, its trait carries over, so rolling it on the Legendary form costs 1 Star Remnant instead of 5. The wiki names Usurper, Martial Demon and Gene among the units that benefit. Check the Anime Adventures traits and the Anime Adventures trait reroll simulator first. The wiki states carry-over only for Legendary to Mythic.

Limit Break and Trait Transfer

Update 19, released December 25, 2024, added both. Limit Break fuses units to raise a unit's max level by 10, to 110 at present, and each equipped Limit Broken unit gives your team +5% damage, stacking up to six units (30%). It needs a Divine Wish plus 12 progress: an unevolved Mythic or Secret counts 1, an evolved one 2. The units you sacrifice do not come back. Divine Wishes come from daily challenges and the level 100 milestone, and you can hold 3.

Trait Transfer sacrifices units to move a trait onto another copy of the same unit, with a 100% success rate. The wiki gives no cost.
